The Viewing Revolution

There's a quiet revolution underway - personal video recording is surely but steadily transforming the way we watch TV, for the better. A PVR is a digital video recorder - and the huge leap forward over conventional video recording technology comes from the fact that it no longer needs a tape. Programmes are recorded to computer media (a hard disk for example), instead. The increased capacity of the media means that it's quite feasible to store hundreds of hours of viewing, all at a quality comparable to the original broadcast. These recordings can be indexed and accessed in the same way you might access the tracks on a CD, or computer files on your desktops, and perhaps best of all, recordings can be scheduled automatically using Electronic Programme Guides (EPG's).
