Homeseer

Introduction

Homeseer is a Windows based home automation controller. I used it briefly as the central controller for my house before abandoning it in favour of a home grown xAP solution - I found homeseer tended  to be slow and unreliable, and the framework it provides was too constrained to be able to readily meet my needs. That said, I know that a lot of people find it perfect for their needs. So here are three useful plug-ins for Homeseer.

Departments

Meteor Caller Id plug-in
The Caller-Id plug-in allows Crucible Technologies' caller id unit to notify Homeseer of incoming telephone calls. This plug-in was designed for use with the first generation meteor caller id unit which didn't provide on-hook and off-hook indication. Several people have told me that the plug-in doesn't work well with the second generation units - if you want to lend me a second generation unit, I'll willingly update the plug-in to work with it.

Comfort plug-in
The Comfort plug-in allows Homeseer to interact with the Comfort home security system. The plugin has recently been extended by Paul Gordon to include some great new functionality. Thanks Paul!

1-wire Weather Station plug-in
The 1-Wire Weather station plugin allows Homeseer to read local weather data from a home weather station. It depends in turn on Arne software being installed somewhere on your network.
